Most brands have an abandoned cart flow, but what if the whole cart experience was curated to never get abandoned at all in the first place? 

Seems too good to be true? 

Well here a blueprint to give it a shot and you can let us know how it works for you: 

1️⃣  Banners for carts

Yep! This might seem silly but having engaging banners actually make a difference. By engaging we don’t mean the “in your face fake timer based banners that are supposed to create urgency” we mean banners that showcase incentives for the session to complete to a purchase. Truly rewarding the purchase. 

It can be something as small as a free lens cleaning liquid if you’re an eyewear brand! 

Or a free pair of laces for a shoe brand! 

2️⃣ Tiered Progress Bars 

These are an underdog that are very unexplored. Most brands have it only to literally showcase progress. The real power in showcasing multiple checkpoint, with increasing incentives for every checkpoint.  

How you place the incentives? And what incentives to place? 

Well that’s where the exploitation is needed. You can start with a basic few like “Free Shipping, Free tester packs, Flat 20% off” and even explore “ Flat % off on an upsell, Bundle up complementary products, provide free returns and exchanges if feasible. And much more! 

3️⃣ Subscription Upsell 

If the user is reaching the cart then they’re 80% converted. Adding a subscription upsell doesn’t just seal the current purchase but jumps you to consecutive purchases in the same session. 

So make the most of the session by providing a simple toggle letting them subscribe to the product they’re about to buy. 

If you think they may not be ready for a sure shot subscription help them set a reminder and give them their first subscription purchase after the first ever purchase for free. This will help them stay hooked to the product without forgetting about the subscription. 

4️⃣ One Tap Checkout and Meaningful Upsells

While the first 3 pretty much sum up all that’s needed, you can always rely on the basic One Tap check out for saved cards, and highly personalized upsells that are not just focused on increasing AOV but also the perceived value for the buyer. 

With these 4 tips you can not only give your buyer a fuller cart experience but also reduce cart abandonment rates and overall loss of customers after the first purchase.
